Serena began her career as a Beauty Therapist and received a BTec National Diploma in Beauty Therapy in 1987 (a 2 year college course in the UK that covers massage, facials, electrolysis, manicures, waxing, makeup, exercise instruction, nutrition, etc.) She worked in beauty salons and health farms in the UK for 7 years. Due to her interest in what was going on with someone's energy and psyche as well as their body, she tended to attract clients who came for emotional support and healing instead of just skincare.

In 1991, she completed a course in Aromatherapy in the UK. Aromatherapy consists of a treatment combining Swedish and Neuromuscular massage, Shiatsu, and Reflexology techniques combined with blending carrier oils and essential oils.

In 1992, she trained in Reiki Level 1 in the UK. In 2001 she trained in Reiki Levels 2 and 3 in the USA.

From 1992 until 2005, she trained as a Spiritual Healer under Jan Morgans, a teacher with the NFSH (National Federation of Spiritual Healers). This organization is the most renowned & accredited system of healing in the UK.

In 2001 she was ordained as a Minister with the International Assembly of Spiritual Healers and Earth Stewards congregations.

In 2001 - 2002 she took workshops with Harvey Caine in Integrative Healing of human energy systems, clairvoyant full sensory perception, healing and therapeutic body realignment techniques, in the USA.

In 2003, she was certified in Sacred Stone Healing with Jenny Ray in the USA.

In 2004 she studied sound healing with tuning forks with Dr. Joe Craine and Gary Harden.

In 2005, she certified as a Quantum Touch Practitioner, which involves the laying on of hands.

In 2009, she certified as a Healing Key Way Practitioner and by 2016 she had successfully completed the required courses of study (including two additional “Deepening” classes) to be designated as a Master Practitioner. A Master Practitioner is someone who has completed three training courses and has successfully facilitated 2,400 sessions.

She has studied Native American culture and trained to be a Pipe Carrier since 2014.
